I wasn’t told about coprographia at the time, but I do feel those urges when writing; at first, I thought that my drawing was not affected, but upon reflection, I realize that it is. It’s just that I don’t feel the need to inhibit myself during the process of creation, at least not until I am considering whether to release a particular work into the world at large.
For example, I knew that some people would object to the cover of Residual Trace; however, I grew up around the original painting on which the cover is based. It was prominently displayed in the museum where my brother and I ran around as kids.
And then there is the logo for Ymaginary Studios. It is, at heart, a ‘y’ in parentheses as it appears in the YS typeface. It is designed to be ambiguously open to interpretation. It should give rise to a range of different conceptualizations across the peole who experience it. Some such meanings are not decorous in DP society; noentheless, they strike me as beautiful. I knew that some people would protest, but I use it anyway; in fact, I love it in part precisely because it breaks the rules that some people would like to force upon others.
Above all, I am not harming anyone who is helpless.
I am not aware of the capilatized versions of those words being used as identifiers by any culture. That deserves further consideration.
