Dear grandma and grandpa

we are felling fine we hope you are to.

On Sat. 7, 1970 Nov. we gave fluffy a bath.

Also on the very same day me and my littel brother went playing at my school and when we were running backwards we fell in the mud. My mommy said we look like a coupel of pigs and we did. We hope we will se you soon.

• Fluffy was our pet guinea pig.
• This was my spelling on entering 3rd grade at 8 years of age.
• The ‘y’ at the end of each name was polished off with a flourish of half a dozen curly loops.
• Colophon: This letter was written in soft pencil in cursive on half a sheet of standard lined yellow paper (of which my mom had many such pads).
