Epilogue: Never Done Book

Writing the epilogue for Residual Trace was fairly traditional, as that work was created to be an actual published book (namely an ePub, plus a few individually printed copies), so it had an existence as a circumscribed, finished thing. But then it kept rattling the bars of its cage, so I ported it over to its unconstrained online life, where that burgeoning growth became Lingering Suspicion, which then earned a manner of epilogue of its own as it felt like it had approached something of a set structure. In paraphrase, I said, “I set out to do this thing, and I think that I have managed to do it, so I can stop now.”

Only not so much, it turns out.

And here we are.

Eventually, as Haunting Note expands and matures, it will come to feel substantial enough that I will have something meaningful to say about who it is has become as a holistic entity, but I have learned that an epilogue is only an end, not the end.
